To bridge the gap between document-handling work in offices and on-site terminal operations, A&E organized an on-site study tour for its staff at the Yantian International Panoramic Exhibition Hall, bringing together new and seasoned freight forwarding professionals for first-hand learning.

Led by the Commercial Department of Yantian International, the team kicked off the tour at the Panoramic Exhibition Hall. From a stretch of tidal flats more than 30 years ago to the current hub handling one-third of Guangdong’s import and export cargo with hundreds of weekly global shipping services, Yantian Port serves as the final port of call for numerous vessels departing China. This stark contrast across eras allowed everyone to truly witness the transformative, leapfrog development of Yantian International.

For new industry practitioners, professional terms such as closing time, container pickup, VGM and terminal release are no longer merely concepts on paper. Through detailed graphics and materials in the exhibition hall, they were able to cross-reference daily operational milestones with real-world port workflows, filling gaps in practical knowledge and gaining a solid understanding of the rigorous logic behind port operations.

For senior business specialists, this visit also brought fresh inspiration. Combining real-world challenges encountered in daily booking and shipment — including space allocation, closing deadlines and yard regulations — the team discussed and exchanged ideas with on-site staff about the port’s operational system showcased in the exhibition. They gained deeper comprehension of the underlying logic of port operations and accumulated frontline practical experience, helping deliver more actionable logistics solutions for clients.
